🔗 Share this article The Latest Casual Game Mode Sparks Heated Debates Over Bots, XP Rewards, and Wait Times Over the weekend, Battlefield Studios launched a fresh playlist called Casual Breakthrough. To put it simply, this option mirrors the regular Breakthrough setup but includes a few notable changes: Every squad includes just 8 human participants, with the remaining filled by 32 bots. Activities done by human gamers grant full XP, while bot actions provide reduced XP. Only two maps can be played: Siege of Cairo and Empire State map. Elements like Dogtags, achievements, and career stat updates are disabled. So essentially, the playlist lives up to its title: it offers a laid-back take of Breakthrough. On the surface, you might think it's a good idea, as it provides more options for players looking for alternative ways to have fun with the title. However, gaming history has shown one thing, it is that not everyone will be happy. Which is to say, a lot of BF6 fans are upset. Player Reactions: Anger to Praise "People want human opponents. Avoid making the errors of your rivals," states a response to the official announcement. "Truly disappointing idea," says a different user. At the same time, in community forums, a player notes, "It's unclear where we are going with this game," and another lists all the issues they believe to be problematic in the game: "Fix bugs, fix drone glitch, correct rocket mechanics, fix [the] bloom after sprinting bug, fix awful hit registration. We do not require this AI-heavy playlist." On the other hand, for every complaint, some gamers explaining how much they're enjoying the new mode. "It's enjoyable to warm up, human participants keep it from being a complete grind but it's quite laid-back," says a forum post. "The community fails to see that there are players who have lives and don't play this title all the time. Let them strike a balance," adds another. A response on Twitter explains that as they're "a parent gamer with limited time, this is great for me," and someone else praises the mode for "avoiding intense competition." Constructive Concerns and Player Feedback Despite the support, players have constructive reasons to complain about the new mode. Some users have pointed out that it will make queue times more extended for other modes due to the large amount of options currently available. On a similar note, certain regions often face mostly bots in the current modes. It also seems somewhat counterintuitive that the mode won't start without a required amount of real players, despite it focuses mostly on fighting AI opponents. Lastly, a major grievances is that Battlefield Portal was promised to provide full XP, including AI matches, but that got canned when they tried to remove bot farms from the mode. Thus this new playlist seems like the player base meeting them in the middle, according to forum feedback. A different user describes this mode as the developers "making a mistake so hard, I had great enjoyment in the initial release, why did they feel the need to adjust it?" Looking Ahead: Adjustments Be Made? Should the development team has demonstrated something so far with the latest installment, it is that they're paying attention and acting on player input. Assignments being too difficult were adjusted very quickly, as did the specific battle pass objectives. It is likely that, should analytics indicates this recent mode isn't performing to their expectations, they will not hesitate to make further modifications.
